If reputation is anything to go by then Japanese vehicles always had a reputation of being economical than all other brands put together. Yet again another car which comes in this category is Hondas Acura. A car which many people say has heralded the release of more Japanese luxury vehicles into the Western markets than ever before.
Developed in 1986 its development and design was such a great revelation the company further decided to expand the manufacturing and research operations of Acura in the US. Plans were also set afoot to deal towards releasing Acura in the lucrative markets of Europe and Canada.
In 1991 Hong Kong became a market where the new Acura with integrated technology was launched. However slower sales in the mid1990s due to design problems led Honda to halt the production and do a major retooling of the car. Well then everything was not all that bad because at the same time a large segment of import tuners were drawn to the Acura due to its easytomodify structure.
The classic design of the Acura was again revamped in 2000 and a lot of bland design elements were done away with. New technology and designs were combined to decrease costs and further enhance the efficiency and performance of the car. Once again making the Honda Acura a possession to be worth owned and showed off. Later on more models followed and the concept of a luxury vehicle with an affordable price and good features really caught on like wild fire.
In the present scenario Honda is currently sticking to its policy of maintaining a simpleyetelegant design. Incorporated with a number of functional systems and technologies users no longer need to worry whether the latest model of Acura will be high on efficiency or not.
